Zelenskyy said Ukraine had retaliated against Russian data centres
On 8 October Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine had responded to Russian strikes on its data centres. He did not list specific targets then. Reuters noted that he did not name Yandex.
Speaking to reporters, Zelenskyy described Ukraine’s actions as a reciprocal response and declined to disclose full details. Interfax-Ukraine published his remarks that evening; they concerned the rationale for strikes, not internet-service availability.
A more specific statement followed on 9 October: Reuters reported that Zelenskyy confirmed Ukrainian drones had struck the Kaluga data centre. This was a subsequent clarification absent from his 8 October remarks.
