Yandex warned of fake emails promising to restore cloud data

Event: 13–14 October 2026 · Reported: News report 13 October; official page updated 14 October

After the data-centre attacks, Yandex warned about fraudulent emails. Senders offered data recovery, compensation or urgent migration. The company urged verification through official channels.

The warning reported by CNews on 13 October described emails exploiting concern about outages. They could claim that data were damaged or accounts blocked, pressuring recipients to act urgently.

Yandex Cloud’s official guidance says support does not request passwords, verification codes, API keys, card details or remote access through such messages. Service status should be checked in the cloud console and official status page.
